Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does he prospers.”

This psalm points out the attributes of a man who is “blessed” or in our modern language; happy. I think there are two things this text points out about the happy man. First, it shows the man’s actions; and second, it shows what the man’s thoughts. (more…)

Morning Prayer

I began the day this morning with the following prayer. It is from a book of prayer called “Valley of Vision.” The book is a collection of prayers from the Puritan era. As I meditated upon these words I realized that all of them are based upon Scripture, so why not meditate on these words this morning and let them be your prayer throughout the day. (more…)
